A WHOLE NEW SLATE OF TURKISH ORIGINALS ARE COMING EXCLUSIVELY TO DISNEY+, STARTING WITH ‘UMAMI’

The Disney+ Original movie kicks off the new batch of local Turkish productions, and is now streaming exclusively on Disney+

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (13 February 2025) – Disney+, The Walt Disney Company’s streaming service, is bringing a new and exciting slate of Turkish productions to audiences across the Middle East. With Turkish series and films continuing to be among the most sought-after content in the region, the premiere of Disney+’s locally produced originals is set to meet the growing demand for exciting stories, strong characters, and high-quality production. 

Kicking things off is the premiere of the highly anticipated original movie Umami, now streaming exclusively on Disney+. An adaptation of the award-winning 2021 film Boiling Point, Umami is directed by Emre Şahin (Rise of Empires: Ottoman) and starring Burak Deniz (Maraşlı, Shahmaran) and Öykü Karayel (Ethos). It is produced by Karga Seven and written by Can Cengiz. 

The story follows chef Sina Bora through one intense night at his fine-dining restaurant in Istanbul. As the pressure builds in the kitchen, his personal struggles also come to the surface, showing how one night can change everything. The film blends the energy of Istanbul, the fast-paced world of cooking, and Sina’s emotional journey, offering an unforgettable experience for everyone who steps into his world. With each dish served, the tension escalates, not just in the kitchen but in Sina’s personal life, forcing him to confront long-buried emotions and the weight of his ambitions.

As the night unfolds, Umami captures the raw, unscripted chaos of a high-stakes restaurant, combining masterful storytelling with the immersive intensity of its one-shot cinematography. A first for Turkish cinema, this technique draws viewers right into Sina’s restaurant and allowing them to experience the tension in real time to make them part of the high-stakes night that changes everything. 

Umami, will be available with Arabic subtitles, ensuring that the captivating story can be enjoyed by audiences across the region in their preferred language.
