Manal Saleh
Riyadh: Shoppers across Saudi Arabia can now experience a
wide selection of UK products as LuLu Retail begins its British Food Week food
festival. The event opened simultaneously across three major regions in the
Kingdom with official ribbon-cutting ceremonies. In Riyadh, the launch took
place at the Al Yasmin hypermarket, where Dr. Alice Burt, Deputy Head of
Mission at the British Embassy, inaugurated the event alongside Mr. Mohammed
Haris, Director of LuLu Saudi Hypermarkets, and senior Lulu management officials.
Adding a touch of cultural charm to the Riyadh inauguration, students from the
Reigate Grammar British School delivered a special live choir performance. The
delightful musical showcase resonated warmly with the audience and was highly
praised by all the dignitaries and guests in attendance.
Meanwhile, the Jeddah launch was held at Aziz Mall with H.E.
Cecille El Beleidi, the British Consul General in Jeddah , and the Al Khobar
event was opened by Mr. Stephen Viner, Principal, and Mr. Shaun Barton, COO, of
the British International School.
This 2026 edition of the festival features more than 3,500
imported premium products including those representing nearly 400 established
and trusted UK brands. The diverse inventory covers daily essentials and
specialty treats, including snacks, beverages, packaged groceries, and dairy
items. To cater to modern dietary preferences, LuLu has also included
health-focused options such as organic and gluten-free lines. As part of this
year's campaign, the retailer has introduced a variety of new items from leading
UK labels, giving shoppers in Saudi Arabia exclusive early access to innovative
products entering the market for the first time.
During the opening ceremony in Riyadh, Dr. Alice Burt said
that it was a pleasure to inaugurate LuLu's British Food Week and see such a
great variety of UK products on the shelves. She noted that the combination of
popular household favorites and new arrivals reflects the strong trade
relationship between the two countries, giving Saudi consumers a great
opportunity to enjoy the high quality and heritage that British food and drink
brands offer.
Mr. Mohammed Haris added that LuLu is proud to host British
Food Week across its Saudi Arabian branches and thanked the dignitaries for
their presence. He explained that this initiative reflects LuLu’s ongoing
commitment to delivering high-quality international products through strong
sourcing partnerships and seamless logistics. He also noted that because of
LuLu's dedicated sourcing and logistics center in Birmingham, the company is
able to keep its shelves stocked with authentic British goods smoothly and
reliably. The promotional offers are now live across all LuLu Hypermarkets in
the Kingdom
