YOKOHAMA,
Japan (April 17,
2026): Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. announced its new long-term vision, “Mobility
Intelligence for Everyday Life”, setting a customer-centric strategic
direction.
The vision
integrates mobility intelligence into everyday life through Nissan’s focus on
AI-Defined Vehicles (AIDV). The vision includes a range of electrification
technologies to meet diverse customer and market needs.
“This is the
right moment to articulate Nissan’s long-term vision as we look beyond the
Re:Nissan plan and set a clear path for the future,” said Ivan Espinosa,
Nissan’s President and CEO. “Our vision defines where Nissan is headed, with
customer experience as our guiding priority.”
By advancing
mobility intelligence, Nissan says it will deliver products and technologies
that are safer, more intuitive, and more accessible, with outstanding value and
a more rewarding overall experience.
“As we continue
on our path to recovery, it is essential that Nissan maintains its focus on
serving customers, seizing the opportunities enabled by AI technologies,
expanding electrification, and driving innovation into our vehicles to deliver
sustainable market growth,” added Espinosa.
As Nissan looks
ahead, the Re:Nissan plan remains on track in its final year of execution. The
plan is delivering a competitive cost base, improved capacity utilization, and
strong new-product momentum that lays the groundwork for future growth.
Nissan’s new
long-term direction, guided by its vision, is designed to drive sustainable
competitive advantage through next-generation technologies, a streamlined
lineup, a redefined global market approach, and an industrial model organized
around clearly defined vehicle families.
Next-Generation
Technologies: AI-led Intelligence and Electrification
Artificial
Intelligence is central to Nissan’s approach to technology innovation, enabling
the development of AIDVs that combine Nissan AI Drive and Nissan AI Partner
technologies to enhance global mobility. Nissan aims to deploy Nissan AI Drive
technology across 90% of its lineup over the long term. The company’s AI-led
experience and the next phase of autonomous mobility will be enabled by
increasing electrification.

Alongside
e-POWER, Nissan will offer a broader range of electrified powertrains to meet
diverse customer needs across global markets.
Streamlined
Product Portfolio
Nissan is
streamlining its global lineup to 45 models, reallocating investment toward
growth opportunities while exiting low-performing models. At the same time, it
will expand powertrain options for each model, giving customers more choice,
increasing volume (per model), and strengthening its business foundation.
The new
strategic approach focuses on four key model categories. These categories
ensure innovation, business stability, growth, and market expansion through
partnerships.
The categories
include key models like the new X-Trail, Rogue Hybrid e-POWER, and Juke EV,
alongside models like Xterra and Skyline.
In the premium
segment, INFINITI remains central to Nissan’s strategy, with plans to introduce
new and refreshed models, beginning with the all-new QX65 SUV in 2027.
Industrial
Model
Nissan is
shifting its focus from model-by-model optimization to architecture-led
development, built on shared vehicle platforms, powertrains, and software.
Development
will be concentrated around three product families, which will account for more
than 80% of global volume. These product families will increase volume per
model by more than 30%, while accelerating development speed and technology
rollout.
By aligning
product design and industrial execution from the start, Nissan will strengthen
quality, improve cost discipline, and enable faster, more competitive product
launches at scale.
Redefined
Global Market Approach
Nissan is
evolving its global business strategy with redefined roles for its three lead
markets: Japan, the United States, and China.
These markets
will serve as pillars of performance, while also acting as global drivers for
competitiveness and industrial capability. Japan is Nissan’s home market and a
proving ground for advanced technologies. From FY2028, Nissan will introduce a
compact car series in Japan to further enhance its lineup. This series will
target 550,000 units in annual sales by fiscal year 2030, alongside stronger
engagement with younger customers.
The United
States is expected to provide stable returns and a foundation for sustained
growth, with an ambition to return to one million units in annual sales by
fiscal year 2030.

Nissan
continues to generate strong value from its long-standing presence in Mexico
and the Middle East. The Middle East remains a priority growth and profit
market, driven by exports and a product mix aligned with customer demand in
large SUVs and premium segments.
Regions
including Europe, India, and Africa will contribute to expanding Nissan’s
global reach and supporting overall growth.
Nissan will
provide a further update on its Re:Nissan progress when it reports full-year
results in May and will announce further elements of the new strategic
direction later in the year.
