Micro-sized RGB backlights deliver greater colour precision with AI-powered viewing and screen sizes up to 115 inches

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – Samsung Electronics Saudi Arabia is bringing Micro RGB TVs to the Kingdom, offering more lifelike colours and clearer detail through technology that independently controls red, green and blue backlights. The range arrives in a year when Samsung celebrates 20 consecutive years as the world’s leading TV brand, building on its work to improve picture quality and expand what people can do and enjoy on their screens.

Samsung’s progress over those two decades has spanned LED TVs, smart connectivity and QLED displays. Micro RGB continues that development by changing how colour is produced at the backlight level.

The difference begins behind the display panel, where red, green and blue LEDs, each measuring less than 100 micrometres, are controlled individually to adjust colour and brightness precisely within a scene. Samsung first introduced the technology in 2025 with a 115-inch TV, the world’s first to use a micro-scale RGB LED backlight, before expanding the range to suit a wider variety of living spaces.

QLED TVs use quantum dots to produce colours, while Neo QLED combines quantum dots with blue Mini LED backlighting. Micro RGB uses separate light sources for the three primary colours, giving the display finer control over differences between shades. This helps reveal the subtle colours of skies and foliage in a landscape, as well as the richly detailed environments of a game.

The technology covers 100% of the BT.2020 wide colour gamut, enabling a broad range of hues in films, programmes and games. Samsung has also received the world’s first “Micro RGB Precision Color” certification, following evaluation against criteria aligned with the international BT.2020 colour standard. The certification provides technical validation of colour performance beyond a general description of picture quality.

AI works alongside the backlighting to refine the picture from one scene to the next. On supported models, the Micro RGB AI Engine Pro adjusts colour and contrast and brings out subtle gradations according to the content being shown. This helps reveal detail in bright and dark areas while keeping colours natural, with results varying according to the quality of the original content.

Samsung Vision AI Companion makes interacting with the TV more intuitive, enabling conversational search, questions about content and recommendations tailored to viewers’ interests. It helps the screen respond more closely to what people want to watch or learn about. Feature availability and supported languages vary by model and market, as detailed in the specifications for each device.

With screen sizes ranging from 55 to 115 inches, the line-up gives viewers options to match their seating area and viewing distance, from a living room to a spacious majlis. The choice of sizes brings practical flexibility to the technology, allowing people to select a screen that suits their home while benefiting from the precise light and colour control at the heart of Micro RGB, according to the specifications of their chosen model.
