Cleaning Beats Karak: Clorox Brain Study Reveals Unexpected Mood Booster

Manal Saleh

·        In a region chasing micro-moments of joy, like drinking Karak, gaming, or scrolling, cleaning might be the most overlooked feel-good ritual of all.

·        A new neuroscience-led experiment by Clorox in the UAE and KSA used EEG headsets to measure real-time brain responses during cleaning vs. feel good rituals.

·        Participants experienced a 20% higher “Feel Good Index” score during cleaning than during their chosen feel-good ritual.

·        A supporting Censuswide survey across UAE and KSA showed: 98% say cleaning improves their mood

20 October 2025: In an age where exhaustion, burnout, and news fatigue are pushing people to chase micro-moments of happiness, whether it’s sipping Karak, playing video games, or scrolling through social media, a surprising new contender is emerging: cleaning.

Clorox’s new Good vs. Good experiment in the Middle East aims to clean up some of the myths around what truly makes us feel good. And the brand has taken a bold step to prove it - through neuroscience with consumer insight, and the results are both surprising and refreshingly relatable.

The Experiment

To test just how rewarding cleaning can be, Clorox conducted a neuroscience study in the UAE using EEG (electroencephalogram) technology. Participants, including famous Radio Presenter and entrepreneur, Kris Fade, Saudi influencer, Joud Aziz, and others were fitted with EEG headsets to monitor brain activity in real time as they completed two types of tasks: one cleaning related, and one personal “feel good” ritual such as playing video games, drinking Karak, or watching content online.

The results were surprising: on average, participants experienced a 20% higher “Feel Good Index” score during cleaning than during their chosen feel-good ritual. For instance, one participant saw a 54% mood boost when mopping versus eating ice cream, while another recorded a 31% higher “Feel Good Index” while cleaning than when watching their favorite videos.

According to David Melcher, Ph.D., Professor of Psychology, who oversaw the experiment, “These sensors measure brain waves and give us a glimpse into what the brain is doing. By measuring these differences, we created our “Feel Good Index” which provides a read on positive emotions.” He adds, “What we saw consistently is that cleaning triggered measurable boosts in the brain likely due to the sense of accomplishment, control, and clarity that comes from a tidy space.”

Survey-Backed Insight

To support the findings, Clorox conducted a survey across the UAE and Saudi Arabia in partnership with independent research consultancy Censuswide. The survey revealed that 98% of respondents say cleaning improves their mood. 96% reported feeling better after cleaning or even just walking into a freshly cleaned space. Nearly half (46%) said they always clean to feel better, more than double the U.S. average of 21%. Of those who do the cleaning themselves, 99% consider it a form of emotional support or stress relief.

Participants described the emotional payoff of a clean space with words like joyful, refreshed, and calm. Seventy-four percent said a clean home made them feel joyful, 68% felt refreshed, 62% felt calm, and others reported feeling energized, proud, and more in control of their environment. These emotional associations are especially relevant in a time when burnout, screen fatigue, and stress are common experiences across the region.

“We’re not saying give up your Karak or your candles,” said George Rechdan, MENA Marketing Director at The Clorox Company. “But don’t underestimate how good a clean home can feel. The results of this experiment show that cleaning with Clorox offers a surprisingly powerful emotional payoff, sometimes even more than our go-to indulgences.”

Following the global success of its “Clean Feels Good” platform in the U.S., Clorox has brought its purpose-led narrative to the Middle East with Good vs. Good experiment to explore the emotional impact of cleaning compared to popular feel-good rituals.

So whether it’s a Sunday deep clean or a midweek wipe-down, the science now shows that cleaning can be more than just a chore, it can be a legitimate path to feeling good.

“One LG” Strategy Delivers End-to-End Data Center Solutions Across Cooling, Energy and Operations

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia - Oct. 19, 2025 LG Electronics (LG), together with LG CNS and LG Energy Solution, is presenting its comprehensive portfolio of advanced data center technologies at Data Center World Asia (DCWA) 2025 in Singapore (October 8-9). Unified under the “One LG Solution” strategy, the three LG Group affiliates are collaborating to offer a complete lineup of products and services for next-generation AI data centers – covering thermal management, data center design and energy solutions.

One LG: Integrated Solutions for the Future of AI Data Centers

Created to meet growing global demand for AI infrastructure, One LG Solution positions LG as the first-choice strategic partner for data center operators seeking efficiency, scalability and sustainability. The approach combines LG’s cutting-edge cooling technologies, LG CNS’s expertise in data center design, construction and operations, and LG Energy Solution’s battery systems into a single cohesive offering for high-performance data processing facilities.

LG’s thermal management portfolio for large-scale, AI-focused data centers includes large-capacity chillers, direct-to-chip (DTC) cooling systems and computer room air handlers (CRAHs). Solutions such as the Coolant Distribution Unit (CDU) and Cold Plate are designed to provide precise temperature regulation for next-generation CPUs and GPUs, supporting stable and energy-efficient performance.

Enhanced by LG’s Data Center Cooling Management System and Digital Twin technologies, these solutions aim to support optimized operation and predictive maintenance. At DCWA, visitors can explore LG’s cooling innovations and experience augmented reality (AR) demonstrations showcasing the test-bed capabilities of LG’s facility in Pyeongtaek.

LG CNS, a leading AX (AI transformation) company in Korea, is spearheading the design, construction and management of next-generation AI data centers. Through its joint venture with Indonesia’s Sinar Mas Group, LG Sinarmas Technology Solutions, the company recently secured a major AI data center construction contract, which includes the deployment of LG’s inverter turbo chillers and other dedicated cooling systems. To accelerate its AI data center business, LG CNS is conducting proof-of-concept testing on immersion cooling, an advanced cooling technology, and has secured the “AI Box” (tentative name), a solution that consolidates all data center operational components into a container-sized unit.

Leveraging its patented battery technologies, LG Energy Solution provides uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems designed to maintain continuous and reliable energy availability. These systems offer robust support for data centers in managing operational stability amid increasing AI workloads and fluctuating energy demand.

Bringing together the strengths and expertise of all three companies, One LG Solution’s integrated platform empowers global data centers to achieve operational resilience, energy efficiency and scalability.

LG’s Thermal and Energy Solutions for Next-Generation Data Centers

The One LG Solution showcase at DCWA 2025 underscores LG’s leadership in thermal management solutions engineered for data center environments. The LG CDU, equipped with a high-efficiency inverter pump, provides scalability and considerable installation flexibility through its compact, modular design. The Cold Plate liquid cooling system, featuring advanced DTC technology, is designed to directly manage the high thermal loads of advanced chips in data center servers.

Complementing these solutions, LG’s water-cooled chiller incorporates a magnetic bearing controller and oil-free centrifugal compressors, contributing to improved reliability and reduced energy consumption. The CRAH solution further enhances operational stability by reducing electricity usage and managing airflow effectively.

LG’s innovative direct current (DC) grid solution minimizes energy loss in data center operations. While traditional alternating current (AC) conversion can result in around 25 percent heat loss, LG’s DC grid reduces this to approximately 10 percent by enabling chillers to operate directly on DC power. Combined with high-efficiency inverter pumps and heat exchangers, the DC grid significantly improves power efficiency and contributes to lowering total operating costs.

“One LG Solution is ready to reshape the global data center landscape with future-ready solutions from LG Electronics, LG CNS and LG Energy Solution,” said James Lee, president of the LG ES Company. “With our leading thermal management systems, intelligent operation capabilities and resilient power solutions, we can supply data center operators with everything they need to scale efficiently in the AI era.”

A global celebration of talent, growth, and opportunity—Radisson Hotel Group expands Career Fest 2025 to engage wider audiences

Manal Saleh

Radisson Hotel Group today announces Career Fest 2025, its largest-ever career festival designed to inspire, upskill, and attract the next generation of hospitality professionals. Running throughout October 2025, the month-long hybrid event brings together more than 75,000 team members and future talent across +105 countries to celebrate career growth, learning, and mobility in the hospitality sector. Career Fest underscores Radisson Hotel Group’s reputation as an employer of choice in one of the world’s most dynamic industries.

Building on the success of previous Career Month and Career Fest editions, this year introduces an expanded, unified format that combines both internal and external activations. Career Fest 2025 reflects the Group’s commitment to investing in people, championing diversity, and setting new standards in talent development.

As part of this ongoing commitment, Radisson Hotel Group recently celebrated the graduation of the inaugural cohort of its flagship “A Brilliant Journey of Advanced Development” (ABJAD) program at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Riyadh Convention & Exhibition Center. Developed in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, ABJAD equips Saudi nationals in supervisory roles with the skills and knowledge necessary to advance into managerial positions, supporting the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 goals. This initiative complements other development platforms such as the Concierge Navigation to Success Program, which refines the skills of Saudi nationals in front-of-house roles. Together, these programs reinforce Radisson Hotel Group’s role as a champion of Saudi talent development and leadership acceleration.

Harpreet Singh, Vice President, People and Culture MEA, SA & SEAP at Radisson Hotel Group, said:

“ABJAD and initiatives like Concierge Navigation to Success are a testament to our unwavering commitment to nurturing Saudi hospitality talent. By equipping team members with the tools to take ownership of their careers and accelerate their growth, we’re not only supporting Vision 2030 but also ensuring that Radisson Hotel Group continues to be the benchmark for leadership development in the region.”

Since launching Career Month in 2023, Radisson Hotel Group has transformed the concept into a year-round platform creating opportunities, clarifying career paths, and accelerating leadership growth. Since 2023, 64% of General Manager appointments in MEA have been through internal promotions or transfers, demonstrating the Group’s commitment to developing people from within. To build the next generation of leaders, the GM Accelerate Programme has already placed seven General Managers in MEA since inception.

Learning remains at the heart of the Group’s approach through Radisson Academy Live. In 2025 alone, over 300 team members participated in live learning events in Tunis, Lusaka, Nigeria, and Egypt, gaining hands-on leadership insights, career-building tools, and networking opportunities. The final Radisson Academy Live for 2025 will take place in October at the Radisson Blu Doha.

The October event will feature a comprehensive calendar of inclusive activities tailored for every stage of a hospitality career. Global, regional sessions and local activations will include pivot stories; level-up sessions; advice from leaders; on-site hotel tours and Q&A sessions with general managers; interactive workshops on building a clear, broad and fast career plan, crafting an attractive CV and standing out during interviews; and trends in the hospitality industry, amongst others, to empower participants with real-world tools and insights.

All activities across the month will align under three strategic pillars, ensuring global consistency while allowing for local adaptation:

1.      Find your passion: Connecting internal and external talent with meaningful career pathways across Radisson’s global portfolio

2.      Develop your career: Delivering practical workshops, leadership tools and pathways, and career resources for upskilling and growth

3.      Inspire to take the next step: Celebrating the stories, journeys, and achievements of the Group’s team and hospitality professionals globally.

New for 2025: Career Spaces

This year marks the debut of Career Space, a dedicated digital hub offering internal teams [SR1] direct access to career resources, tools, and opportunities, as well as the launch of a career site for external candidates. The new platform highlights Radisson’s Employee Value Proposition across four pillars—Build a Great Career, Live the Magic of Hospitality, Experience the Team Spirit, and Lead with Your Ambition—making it easier than ever to pursue a rewarding career in hospitality.

Celebrating people, globally

With a global presence spanning more than 1,580 hotels worldwide, Radisson Hotel Group employs one of the industry’s most diverse workforces encompassing 142 nationalities. Delivering [SR2] Career Fest in a hybrid format, with global virtual sessions complemented by locally tailored activations across hotels and offices, ensures maximum accessibility and engagement.

Iñigo Capell, Executive Vice President and Global Chief People & Resources Officer, Radisson Hotel Group, said: “At Radisson Hotel Group, we believe hospitality is one of the most dynamic and rewarding industries. Career Fest is our chance to showcase why Radisson continues to be the employer of choice globally. We want to inspire the next generation, empower those already in the industry, and provide the tools and support people need to thrive. This year’s programme highlights the possibilities within hospitality and the unique culture at Radisson. Across our hotels, teams come together to exchange experiences and open doors for those seeking opportunity, with one ambition: to help everyone find their passion and own their career.”

Rashad Iskandrni

Dubai, UAE, 13 October 2025 – At GITEX 2025, Huawei unveiled its groundbreaking Wheelchair Mode for the HUAWEI WATCH GT 6 Series, reinforcing its dedication to inclusive smart-health innovation. The feature, inspired by a suggestion from His Excellency Majid Rashed, President of the Asian Paralympic Committee, will be delivered via a global software update in early November, with the official consumer launch aligned with the kickoff of Dubai Ride.

The new Wheelchair Mode transforms how wheelchair users track activity; leveraging inertial measurement units (IMUs), push-detection algorithms, and wheel rotation sensors, it determines push frequency, force, speed, and distance. Combined with HUAWEI TruSense System—continuous heart-rate monitoring, SpO₂, calorie estimation, and pressure/torque sensing—the mode delivers a complete wellness profile adapted to wheelchair propulsion.

H.E. Majid Rashed commended Huawei’s progress: “When I first suggested the idea of a wheelchair mode, I hoped to see a technology brand take the step toward true inclusivity. Huawei not only listened but acted with great determination. By bringing this feature to life, Huawei has shown a genuine commitment to empowering people of determination and ensuring that technology serves everyone equally.”

Globally, more than 80 million people rely on wheelchairs for mobility. For them, Wheelchair Mode is more than a fitness tool, it is a means of health monitoring, injury prevention, personal empowerment, and now added safety.

“At Huawei, we believe that technology should empower everyone and our commitment to people of determination drives us to develop inclusive innovations that make everyday life smarter, healthier, and more connected for all,” said Bruce Li, Country Manager UAE, Huawei CBG. “With the official rollout in November and the public debut timed with Dubai Ride, Huawei is proud to deliver a feature that embodies our belief in innovation for all. This marks a new frontier in wearable tech, borne from collaboration and a vision to make health solutions inclusive.”

The HUAWEI WATCH GT 6 Series enhances this experience with its hallmark features: an ultra-long battery life of up to 21 days in light use, ensuring uninterrupted use even during extended periods without charging; durable premium materials designed for daily wear; and HUAWEI TruSense System, which offers deeper insight into cardiovascular performance, emotional wellbeing, and overall health.

Additionally, the watch is equipped with fall detection and emergency alerting, a vital safety feature that can automatically notify trusted contacts in the event of an accident. For wheelchair users, this combination of durability, functionality, holistic health monitoring, and safety makes the HUAWEI WATCH GT 6 Series a reliable and empowering everyday companion.

The HUAWEI WATCH GT 6 Series with Wheelchair Mode will be available to users via software update in early November, with global promotion beginning in Dubai.
